They say the person with dementia is still who they are inside. I know thinking of them this way helps with the exhausting daily care, but I struggle… I feel guilty for struggling with this thinking too... Does this belief help you? Or is it just a nice thing people who don’t know how it feels, say to others? What do you all think?

I think some part inside them may stay the same, during some good moments on some good days. But for the most part, it is hidden. Dementia is so cruel... Please don’t feel guilty. And please don't force yourself to think certain thought, it just creates more guilt.
