As our loved ones age, they may face unique physical or mental challenges that interfere with their quality of life and independence. These may include mobility issues, memory and cognitive problems, or recovery after a hospital discharge. At Ninkatec, we understand that each senior's journey is different, which is why we offer specialised eldercare services tailored to meet your loved one’s specific needs. Discover how our specialised care services can make a difference to the quality of life of your loved one and yourself:
Dementia Care
Dementia is often associated with a decline in thinking skills, also known as cognitive abilities, severe enough to impair daily life and independent function. They also affect behavior, feelings and relationships. Diseases grouped under Dementia are caused by abnormal brain changes. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia. Persons with dementia lose the ability to:
- Think and reason
- Remember new information or recall past events
- Care for oneself
- Learn new information and skills
- Problem-solve and make judgements
Normal Ageing vs Dementia: How to Spot the Differences?
If you are looking after a loved one with dementia, you may face multiple challenges as you accompany them on their journey:
- Behavioural changes: As a caregiver, you may need to learn to manage personality changes, behavioral disturbances, and communication difficulties. These changes can range from aggression and hallucinations to sleep and eating patterns. They may not be able to recognise you as the illness progresses.
- Mental well-being: You may experience emotional stress and burnout, sometimes even depression as you try to cope with your loved one’s changes in personality and living habits.
- Balancing responsibilities: Caregivers may struggle to balance caregiving with their personal and professional lives and find time for their own needs and time for rest.
How Ninkatec can Help Dementia Patients
- Behaviour and mood management: There are many triggers causing behavioural and mood changes in dementia patients. These can be managed through adjusting daily schedules, environments and medication. Our dedicated team, which includes an experienced psycho-geriatric psychiatrist, can advise you on the management of these triggers at home.
- Care support: Caring for your loved ones at home in comparison to leaving them in institutional care provides them with a routine and familiar environment. Our team at Ninkatec understands that caregiving for loved ones suffering from dementia can be physically and emotionally draining.
Ninkatec helps by deploying a healthcare team to your home as needed to care for your loved ones and provide you with room for respite care.

Stroke Care
Stroke is characterised by a loss of blood flow to the brain, thus damaging the brain tissue. Strokes are caused by blood clots and broken blood vessels in the brain. Some symptoms include dizziness, numbness, weakness on one side of the body, and problems with talking, writing, or understanding language. If you are looking after a loved one with stroke, you may face multiple challenges as you accompany them on their journey. Some of these include:
- Heightened levels of stress, depression, and physical strain
- Financial challenges
- Frustration when one does not understand what he/she wants
- One’s ability to provide consistent and high-quality care may diminish as time passes, thereby exacerbating the challenges faced by the stroke patient.
How Ninkatec Can Help Stroke Patients
- Medical support: There are many possible complications that may arise after a stroke such as chest infections, urinary tract infections, constipation or pressure sores. Our doctors can help monitor for these and advise you on the appropriate actions to take.
- Nursing care support: Patients with stroke may experience difficulties in swallowing or urine elimination due to weakened muscles (paralysis). These patients may require feeding through nasogastric or PEG tubes and urinary catheters for their care. Having proper care support and caregivers equipped with the right skills and knowledge play a key role in post-stroke recovery. Ninkatec Team can assist in these ways:
- Initial insertion and/or routine change of feeding tube/urinary catheter
- Troubleshoot blockage and/or leakage of feeding tube/urinary catheter
- Caregiver training on how to manage feeding tube/urinary catheter
- Home therapy: Stroke patients often experience physical and functional limitations after a stroke. Ninkatec provides physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy sessions for patients right at home to aid with improving an individual’s functional status and potentially complement their medical care. Services are not only aimed at a particular condition or disability, but are coordinated to address the total well-being of the individual, and needs of the family and caregiver.

Transitional Care
Transitional Care ensures the continuity of care when a patient moves from one care setting to another (e.g. from hospital or a nursing home to one's own home). You may need transitional care after a discharge from hospitalisation, or during home recovery after an operation. The initial setup and support from medical professionals will help you gain the necessary confidence and knowledge to provide care (or self-care) at home.
How Ninkatec Can Help with Your Hospital Discharge
At Ninkatec, we focus on having patients discharged to their homes smoothly, while ensuring care continuity and enhancement of quality of life. Before, during and after patient’s discharge, Ninkatec Team can follow up with patient and family with regards to management of care post discharge:
- Helps family and caregivers plan for the caring of their loved one at home
- Ensure smooth transition and continuity of care in between hospital visits
- Provision of medical/nursing support, hospital bed and other medical equipment, allied health support at the comfort of the patient’s home
Transitional care is best arranged prior to the actual move. Check in with us early to start the planning process for a smooth experience.
