My mum has advanced lung cancer. We have stopped chemo and now focused on comfort care at home. Elevated position is more comfortable for her so we plan to get a hospital bed. What kind of bed is best? Any other equipment is useful? What about skills we need to learn (family members and helper). Do we need to go for caregiver training? Thank you!

Hi Grace, go for caregiver training if you foresee caring for mum for some time. It helps. You can get $400 subsidy from Caregiver training grant if you take eligible courses. Customised courses more targetted but usually not qualified for grant. Hospital bed can be rented if you don't mind used one, or purchased as new - ask the vendor to advise you based on needs and budget. I am not sure about other equipment. Take care!
